WHAT IS A DARTS LEAGUE?

A darts league is a structured season of weekly matches played between teams at local pubs and community centres. Teams are made up of 4 to 8 players depending on the league, and each match night your team faces off against another team in the division.

Most leagues run September through April, with some summer seasons available. Entry fees range from a few dollars per week to a flat team fee per season. You don't need to be good to join every league in Calgary welcomes players of all skill levels.

If you're new to darts, joining a league is the fastest way to improve your game, meet the local community, and find your people.

Most venues have house darts you can borrow, but if you're serious about playing, investing in your own set makes a real difference. A decent starter set costs $20-$60. Ask your league organizer what they recommend for your format steel tip and soft tip darts are different.
Steel tip darts use a sharp metal point and are thrown at a traditional bristle dartboard. Soft tip darts have a plastic tip and are used with electronic dartboards that score automatically. Most Calgary leagues are steel tip. Soft tip leagues like the CSSC use electronic boards and are popular with beginners because the board handles all the scoring.
